The team is made up of 32 “highly qualified” personnel in terms of Technical Search; Canine Search; Medical assistance; Dangerous materials; Structural engineering; Support for Reception and Departure Centers (RDC) and Support for the Field Operations Coordination Center (OSOCC), as well as Support for the USAR Coordination Cell (UC), it was officially reported.
During the farewell ceremony for the team at the PFA Headquarters, the Minister of Security, Hannibal Fernandezremarked that “two towns, from where many have come to live in our country, are having a terrible time and summon us. We said present.”
The brigade that will go to Turkey for humanitarian aid is also made up of the dogs Indio (Belgian Sheepdog Millinois) and Akira (Border Collie) to detect human remains and a group specialized in technical rescue, another specialized in hazardous materials, an engineer structural, members of the communications area and medical personnel, all belonging to different areas of the PFA.
Rescuers continue to search for thousands of people suspected of being trapped in the rubble, but optimism wanes in the face of low winter temperatures and the 72-hour deadline that is considered crucial to save lives.
