Firefighters from the City of Buenos Aires continue working this Sunday to extinguish the fire that broke out yesterday afternoon in the Costanera Sur Ecological Reserveand that is the second in four days, according to official sources.

By means of a helicopter with a bucket from the City Police, the brigade members attacked a front of approximately 700 meters x 2.50 meters in height around 8 in the morning, which appeared irregularly and in an area of ​​bushes.

At the end of these works, the brigade members resumed their tasks to turn off the small lights inside the property with a line and using zapata material to extinguish the accident.

“The fire is under control”, reported the head of the City Fire Inspection, Diego Coria, in statements to TN. In addition, he explained that he is working manually to lift the earth and then throw water, since the flames spread “underground.”

Throughout the early morning, the firefighters, with several water lines, and infantry personnel, with sapping material, worked to put out small subsisting sources. For this reason, during the last hours large columns of smoke were observed in that area of ​​the City, in addition to the burning smell that was perceived in different Buenos Aires neighborhoods and even in the Province, on the other side of the Riachuelo.

According to the police report, two volunteer firefighters had to be assisted due to smoke inhalation and a City firefighter because an incandescent particle affected his eye.

The fire broke out this Saturday and affected the Camino de los Plumerillos, 100 meters from Laguna Secathe same site of the fire originated last Wednesday.

Among the personnel working to fight the flames are Volunteer Firefighters from San Telmo, Puerto Madero, Barracas, Pompeya, La Boca, the City of Buenos Aires and personnel from the Special Federal Rescue Brigade (Befer).
