The Monthly Estimator of Economic Activity (EMAE) showed an improvement of 0.2% year-on-year in February in relation to the same month last year, although it did not show differences compared to January, reported today the National Institute of Statistics and Censuses (Indec ).

From the Ministry of Economy they estimate that the Gross Domestic Product (GDP), of which the EMAE shares several indicators, will rise 2% this year, despite the severe drought that affected the agricultural sector.

However, the International Monetary Fund (IMF) estimated this growth at 0.2% and the World Bank assured that the economy will remain stagnant. For their part, market analysts estimated that GDP will fall 3% this year.

In the EMAE for February, nine items registered year-on-year increases, including mining and quarrying, with 11.1%; and Hotels and restaurants, 8.6%, followed by Real estate, business and rental activities, with 2.1%; distribution of Water, Electricity and Gas with 6.7%; Teaching with 2.9%; and Health services 1.1%, among others.

Meanwhile, six sectors of activity registered falls in the interannual comparison, among which Fishing stands out with 20%; followed by Agriculture and Livestock, which fell 0.7%; Industry 1.3%; Trade 0.5%; transport, 0.3%.
