Despite the 2-0 defeat against SSC Napoli in the first leg of the Champions League, Eintracht Frankfurt is currently in impressive form. In the Bundesliga, the Hessians occupy a strong sixth place – just five points behind leaders Bayern.
Eintracht is also confident in the premier class. “They scored two goals at home, why shouldn’t we do the same?”, Mario Götze was combative after the setback. The cohesion in Frankfurt still seems unshakable.
Nobel laureate offers medal for contract extension
To ensure that this is still the case in the coming season, a regular player has now received an unusual offer. Chemistry Nobel laureate Benjamin List has offered Daichi Kamada his medal in exchange for a contract extension. The Eintracht honorary member was awarded the Nobel Prize medal in Stockholm in 2021 for his research on asymmetric organocatalysis.

“I’m a Japan fan. One of my favorite players is Hasebe,” List told Amazon Prime on the sidelines of the Champions League game. “But Daichi Kamada – if he left, it would break my heart. Today I wanted to take the opportunity to put my medal in the balance. If he stays, I’ll give it to him.”
The Japanese national player is one of the top performers on the Main this season. The 26-year-old currently has 18 direct goals in 30 games across all competitions. His contract expires in the summer.
Frankfurt threatens to sell out in summer
As is so often the case when Frankfurt performs above expectations, the top performers also arouse the desires of the competition. The football portal According to “Transfermarkt.de”, in addition to Eintracht’s man of the hour, Randal Kolo Muani, half the Hessian squad is now on the wish list of top international clubs. Same with Kamada.

Eintracht sports director Markus Krösche made it clear early on that he absolutely wanted to extend his expiring contract. As early as November last year he declared the “FAZ“, Kamada “made a very good offer” to have. He was convinced that it would make sense for him to take the next step at Eintracht.
“Ultimately it is Daichi who has to make the decision now”, Krösche finally places the ball in the Japanese field. So far, however, the offensive star has kept a low profile when it comes to his future plans. If Eintracht continues to perform like this, Kamada may stay in Frankfurt beyond the end of the season.
“Not 18 questions and on every cover,” said Bayern coach Julian Nagelsmann after the 3-2 defeat in Gladbach and his freak out in the mixed zone. However, Bayern have been working flat out for weeks to ensure that this wish will probably remain unfulfilled for a while. There is unrest in Munich again.
