The season is currently going well for Eintracht Frankfurt. After 15 games in the Bundesliga, they are fourth in the table – they are also still represented in the Champions League and the DFB Cup. On January 21st, after the World Cup in Qatar, the SBU will continue with the league.

Given the convincing performance of the team, it is not surprising that some exceptional talents from Hessen have already aroused the desires of top international clubs. In an interview with the “table football“Eintracht sports director Markus Krösche comments on the rumors – and has a clear recommendation for the players concerned.

Contracts between two Frankfurt stars expire in the summer

In particular, the French central defender Evan N’Dicka and Japan’s offensive all-rounder Daichi Kamada are said to be unsure about their future at Eintracht Frankfurt. The problem: The contracts of the two expire in the summer. If the professionals do not extend by then, the SBU would not receive a fee. The receiving club only has to agree with the players.

That would be catastrophic for Frankfurt. The pandemic has torn large holes in all club coffers without exception, which have to be plugged again with transfer proceeds. “Due to Corona, many clubs can no longer keep up with certain amounts. Some salaries can no longer be paid either. The same applies to expensive contract extensions,” says Markus Krösche to the “kicker”.

He therefore has clear words for the fickle departure candidates: “We’re keen to keep them, we’ve made them offers and explained their role at Eintracht in the future. Now we have to wait. We are convinced that it would be best for them to stay with Eintracht.”

N’Dicka and Kamada: Contract extensions are available

However, it remains questionable whether the professionals will take Krösche’s advice to heart. From the club side, the contract offers have been available for a long time.

Neither N’Dicka nor Kamada have made a decision yet. The France centre-back is said to be on the list at some of the top English clubs. Kamada has been linked to league competitor Borussia Dortmund in the past. In the summer he was about to move to Benfica Lisbon.

Eintracht sports director sees development in football critically

Frankfurt’s sports director is not only critical of the trend towards free transfers for opportune reasons – he even sees it as a danger to football. “It’s not a good development because we clubs depend on transfer income. We have to find solutions and see that we’re prepared.”warns Krösche.

More and more players have made free transfers in the past. As a result, smaller clubs in particular have to do without firmly planned income. However, this does not automatically make the transfer cheaper for the receiving club. The money that is “saved” by the transfer fee often goes to the players and consultants themselves in the form of a signature bonus and bonus money.
