Another year has gone by and now we can discuss which were the best video games that arrived throughout 2022, such as Elden Ring. FromSoftware’s latest game was released in February and quickly became a contender for GOTY awards, of which it has already held over 200.
The GOTY or Game of the Year award is the most prestigious for the video game industry and Elden Ring has already won more than 200, including both media awards and fan voting awards. Also, God of War: Ragnarok already scored over forty, leaving Immortality and Pentiment behind.

According to data collected by players, Elden Ring won 204 GOTY awards from the media and 21 awards from fan votes, for a total of 225.
The most popular award of the year is the one given by Geoff Keighley at his The Game Awards event, which takes place in December of each year and recognizes the best video games of the last 12 months. This time the winner was Elden Ring, although FromSoftware’s acclaimed title won its first Game of the Year award in mid-September.
In the case of God of War: Ragnarok, the delivery of Sony Santa Monica has 35 awards for the best game of the year from the press, while the players have won another 8 recognitions. There is quite a difference with the third place, since it is Immortality by Sam Barlow and Half Mermaid Productions with 5 Game of the Year awards from the press. Fourth place is occupied by Pentiment with four prizes.
