While Embracer Group’s interim results have just been made public, management has just released his detailed report showing excellent overall form, but also evoking many short, medium and long term projects.

A net increase in turnover and 94 projects in the pipeline

In 2022, Embracer Group did not skimp on resources by acquiring Crystal Dynamics, Eidos Montreal and Square Enix Montreal studios in May, then Middle-earth Enterprises from The Saul Zaentz Company, three months later. Enough to considerably increase its number of usable IPs over the next few years.

However, it did not take long to observe an evolution in the results of the Swedish group, which observed an increase in its net turnover of 128%. Indeed, the last quarters are stable and in line with the group’s forecasts.

Nevertheless, Embracer has emphasized a specific point in its report and it is about the advantages of diversification. Indeed, it is the diversification of Embracer’s activities that has brought more stability to the group’s results. This can be seen with the success Goat Simulator 3 developed by Coffee Stain or even Ghost Ship Games, the Danish studio in charge of Deep Rock Galactic.

Embracer remains lucid about the postponement of several big budget projects on PC and consoles or even on the mixed returns from the reboot of Saints Row. Despite the group having had the wherewithal to cushion failures like this, Embracer said the goal now would be to step up efforts to prioritize and create positive, unique experiences for players.

The future therefore looks bright for Embracer Group, which has said something very interesting about its current game pipeline, after recently announcing Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2, Remnant 2 and Payday 3.

“In total, we have 94 projects slated for release in FY23/24, of which 58 have yet to be announced. We have invested significantly in one of the most diverse pipelines in the industry, thanks to the combined strength of over 11,000 game developers around the world. In total, we have invested SEK 8.2 billion in ongoing game development projects as of December 31, 2022. For example, we have 31 AAA games scheduled for release by FY2027 /2028, including 19 games that will be released by fiscal year 2025/2026. »

Suffice to say that Embracer Group’s strategy seems all mapped out for the coming years, which should be rich in surprises with these 94 projects, including 31 AAA by the 2027/2028 financial year. Between Goat Simulator, Dead Island, Darksiders, Metro, MX vs ATV, Wreckfest, Borderlands or IPs related to Lord of the Rings, there is no shortage of licenses within Embracer or talented studios. Now we hope to find out more concretely what it is all about as soon as possible.
