The next career leap could be imminent for Amadou Onana. As The Times reports, Chelsea have expressed increased interest in the Everton midfielder. The 21-year-old Belgian is seen by the Blues as an alternative to transfer target Enzo Fernández. Benfica are still insisting on the Argentine’s 120 million release clause. Everton, on the other hand, must achieve transfer surpluses in view of financial fair play.

Onana only switched from OSC Lille to Liverpool last summer for 40 million euros. Since then, the former HSV professional has played 20 games for the Toffees and has hardly missed a competitive game. Onana is contractually bound to Everton until 2027. So Chelsea would have to dig deeper into their pockets again.
