It’s been many years, but as a reporter, particularly dramatic stories are remembered forever.

That’s how I feel about the hand grenade attack on the happy party people in the Hamburg disco “J’s” in 2000. After the fateful night, we visited several injured people in various clinics who wanted to report on what they had experienced. One of them was Christian, then 20 years young.

At the time, the singer was celebrating in the club in Hamburg, where he was seriously injured by the grenade

I met today’s ESC star in his most difficult hour. He lay in the hospital bed and talked about his music, which he was already making back then, about the worst night of his life and about his injuries. An operation was scheduled for the next day: several steel balls were to be operated out of his legs.

Around 20 bullets are still stuck in his back today. I wish Chris Harms the best of luck today. Bad luck he had enough.
