It’s the big day for La Zarra, the Quebec singer who gives her voice to France for Eurovision. Back on his journey before his performance, on the evening of this Saturday, May 13.

La Zarra is a Quebecer who energetically wears the tricolor banner at Eurovision. “For me, France opened up at the start of my career, they told me to come and I came. Being able to represent the Francophonie through the flag of France is incredible, it’s unreal”, she says. As a child, she wanted to become a veterinarian, then a boxing champion. She eventually became a hairstylist briefly, before turning to music.

A mix of Edith Piaf and Lady Gaga

The producers were quickly seduced by this autodidact with a strong personality. “Victim of 90s and early 2000s pop”, La Zarra listened a lot to the Spice Girls, Backstreet Boys and even Madonna. For Eurovision, she summarizes it in a slightly retro universe. “I’m going to get the French song and add a touch of modernity”, she explains. Compared to a mixture of Edith Piaf and Lady Gaga, she believes that she “can’t come close to them” and would like to be recognized for what she “represent as an artist”.
