What to hope for the best for D-Day: Monday, during one of the dress rehearsals for Eurovision 2023the candidate of France La Zarra gave an impressive performance warmly welcomed by the public present.
On the Liverpool stage, the Quebec singer performed the title she will defend on Saturday in the final, Obviously. As seen in photos and videos posted on social media, La Zarra was perched on a raised platform, fully covered in her long black sequin dress.
At one point during her performance, technicians hidden in black coveralls came to tear off the bottom of her outfit, so that her dress resumed a normal length.
A video posted on Twitter, taken while the singer was getting into place, also shows the cheers of the public.
“3 meters high”
Images that prove the technical nature of this service, as Alexandra Redde-Amiel, the head of the French delegation, had already mentioned a few days ago:
“There is a whole mechanism that will make it go up and down,” she confided to 20 minutes. “The Zarra will therefore have a safety belt, which she will have to unfasten when she finds herself on the ground, then reattach to go back up.”
She also specified that the platform would be 3 meters high, and that the dress had required “a hundred hours of work”.

This rehearsal was the first to which the press was invited. The previous ones, which started on April 30, took place behind closed doors. Thus, La Zarra had already performed on May 4 and 6 and these performances earned him third place among the favorites in the bookmakers’ rankings. So far, only 30 seconds of these numbers have aired.
The full video of its general rehearsal is expected this Tuesday evening on the competition’s YouTube channel, according to the journalist from 20 minutes Fabien Randanne present on site.
