Moments of panic and confusion were experienced by merchants and customers of a flea market of Cuautitlan Izcalli, in the State of Mexico (Edomex), after registering a series of noises typical of a armed conflict.

It was around 10:00 a.m. on January 16 when commercial activity in the well-known Bank area, Suburb Urban centerwas interrupted by the sound of gunshots and explosions, which mobilized a large number of people to flee and take refuge.

“Let’s go! Run, run!”, “Let’s go or they’re going to do something to us”, “Back here, hide!”, were some of the cries of despair in the face of anxiety and uncertainty that led some to think that the explosions were more ok fireworks “Even grenades? In response to the attacks, a security operation by the State Police and the General Commission for Citizen Security was deployed to control and dissuade what the Government of Cuautitlán Izcalli itself confirmed as a confrontation between trade organizations.
