Mexico City.- Former President Felipe Calderón called “everyone” to march next Sunday, February 26, to the Zócalo.

Through his Twitter, the former President asked to concentrate efforts on CDMX and asked those who live inside the Republic and want to attend, not to hesitate and go.

“Everyone to march to the zócalo on February 26, next Sunday. Efforts must be concentrated in Mexico City. That is ‘the’ march. Whoever can attend, even if they reside in another city, do not hesitate,” Calderón launched.

The PAN member also retweeted a message from Claudio X. González, who quoted a phrase from Margarita Zavala, Calderón’s wife.

In the appointment, Zavala asks to defend “our dignity” and prepare for the “tough times” that will require courage and generosity.

Zavala affirms that “now it’s time for the Zócalo” and calls for a march at 11:00 a.m.

“This is just beginning,” he says.

“‘Let’s go to the demonstration on the 26th, let’s do the democratic and patriotic exercise of defending our dignity; let’s get ready for these ‘tough times’ that will require a lot of courage and generosity. Now it’s time for the Zócalo. At 11 in the morning. This is just beginning .’ M.Zavala”, contains the message from @ClaudioXGG.

REFORMA published this Sunday a text by Calderón in which the former President proposes to revive the opposition to prevent Mexico from falling into an “authoritarian dictatorship”, as well as to strengthen the opposition alliance and for the parties to open up to citizens.

This Monday morning, President Andrés Manuel López Obrador challenged the opposition bloc to group together towards 2024 and define its leader and presidential candidate, given the proposal of former President Felipe Calderón to organize citizens to achieve a “resurrection of the political opposition.

“What (Calderón) says is correct, that they be applied so that they group together, strengthen themselves, the conservative party has always existed in Mexico, always. Yes, (that they group together), it does the country good for there to be democracy full”, he pointed to an express question from REFORMA during the morning.

“It is very good that they agree and what Calderón raised: that they organize, that they regroup, that they define if Claudio (X. González) is going to be the leader or who, that they define how they are going to choose the candidate of the block Conservative, because there are about 50. They have to solve this, eh?, let’s see, how are they going to do it. If they go together, there’s no way they’re just from the PAN, they also have a chance, they can’t exclude those from the PRI.” .
