From the Place des Quinconces, the largest square in France, you can reach the beautifully refurbished quays of Bordeaux in two minutes, and the Port de la Lune, from where you can see the liners on the Garonne. On the right, the magnificent 18th century facades of the Place de la Bourse. Then we take the Pont de Pierre, built under Napoleon, it has 17 arches.

And we drive on the quays of the right bank, district of the Bastide, to reach the ecological-alternative site of Darwin. This urban wasteland has been installed since 2012, on a former military barracks. It houses, among other things, cafes, a chocolate factory and a hangar for skateboarding.

Along with the Cité du Vin, Darwin is one of the most visited places in Bordeaux. (INGRID POHU / RADIOFRANCE)

Just opposite, a canelé break in the Parc des Angéliques. Opposite, you can go to the Brasserie de la Lune, where geothermal energy is used to make beverages. With a few pedal strokes, you cross the Chaban-Delmas bridge, which is celebrating its tenth anniversary. Equipped with four 77-meter pylons, its middle deck rises and falls like an elevator, to let boats pass.
