Over the past five years, Algerian date exports have averaged $66.4 million, peaking in 2021 at $79 million. According to the same data, the production of dates reached its peak in 2019 with 11.36 million quintals, led by “Deglet Nour” with 6.14 million quintals, followed by dry dates with 3.02 million quintals, then the rest of the fresh dates with 2.20 million quintals. The average number of countries importing Algerian dates between 2017 and 2021 was equivalent to 66 countries, with a peak recorded in 2021 with 72 countries in the world.
What are the main importing countries of Algerian dates?
Among the main importing countries of Algerian dates in 2021, France, which imported an estimated quantity of 21.42 thousand tons, with a total value of 25.36 million dollars, followed by Spain with 8.48 thousand tons, worth $9.44 million. As for the quality of dates that were exported in large quantities in 2021, “Deglet Nour” comes to the fore, since more than 25,514 tons were exported to various countries around the world, including 4,884 tons to France and 2,801 tonnes to Germany, followed by soft dates (more than 49,784 tonnes), then dry dates (1,635 tonnes).
The same data shows that the total average imports of dates worldwide amounted to $1.84 billion, with a peak in 2021 of $2.04 billion. India ranks first among date importing countries in the world in 2021, with an amount of 475.4 thousand tons, with a total value of more than 240.4 million dollars, followed by the United Arab Emirates with 181 .3 thousand tons, worth 136.5 million dollars.
