The source reports that the incident originated in a “mixed construction housing, with masonry and wood structures inside”and adds that everything seems to indicate that the incident began with the explosion of the vehicles that were at the entrance to the room.

Disseminated images show how several electric vehicles were burned at the entrance of the house.

The Assembly of People’s Power of Havana indicated on its social networks as a possible cause of the fire “the explosion of two motorinas that were charging at the entrance of the house”.

The government of Havana indicates that joint forces of the Ministerio del Interior (MININT)including the police and the Cuban Fire Department, with teams from the municipalities of Habana Vieja, Cerro, Plaza de la Revolución and Regla, as well as the Rescue and Rescue Detachment, acted immediately to put out the fire.

Division General Ramón Pardo Guerra, Chief of the National Civil Defense Staff, also attended the scene of the accident. Investigations are ongoing to determine the causes of this unfortunate event.

At the close of this note there are no other official details about what happened, nor have the fatalities of the fatal incident been identified.

It is not the first time in recent months that people have died in Central Havana victims of a fire of similar characteristics.

In the early morning of March 11 Yonelsy Cadrelo Rodríguez (45 years old) and Vladimir Jerez Roselló (48) died by a fire started by a electric motorcycle that they had charging in the living room of their home in San José street between Espada and San Francisco, in Centro Habana. In this case, in addition to the deceased, three citizens aged 18, 56 and 61 were injured.

In recent years, the explosion of electric motorcycles has become one of the main causes of fire in the country, causing not only significant material losses to the victims but also resulting in injuries or deaths, in the worst case scenario.

A year ago, in June 2022, even a baby died in a fatal fire in the town of Santa Fe, in the Havana municipality of Playa due to the explosion of an electric motorcycle.
