At Christmas, a woman gave birth to triplets in the Oberhausen Evangelical Hospital. A little miracle. How is the family today?
Miracles come at Christmas. This is also the case in the Evangelical Hospital in Oberhausen. The Mkana family from Bottrop was happy about the birth of triplets on Christmas Day!
And the best news: the two girls Rukaya and Sukayna and the boy Ali Alrida are doing well. A week ago, the family was able to leave the hospital in Oberhausen and go home. After the birth, they initially had to stay in the children’s intensive care unit and the premature baby ward for a while. “The children are doing great,” says father Hussein Mkana on the phone.
The birth on this special date came as a surprise. Before that, mother Khadija Abdallah was in the hospital for three days. On Christmas Day the time had come. “It was the best Christmas present ever,” says Hussein Mkana. Christmas is also special for the Muslim family. The story of Jesus is told in the Koran. The fact that the birth of the triplets coincides with the birth of Jesus is all the more wonderful, says Hussein Mkana.
Triplets weigh around 2500 grams
Now the family has their hands full. “I’m very proud,” says father Hussein Mkana. Three children are challenging, but: “It’s a nice stress.” When they were released shortly before carnival, the triplets weighed around 2500 grams. Now the family is settling in at home.
The father of three only has words of praise for the EKO. “It doesn’t get any better than that,” he says. The family was very happy with the care. In December, strict visiting regulations applied in the maternity clinic. Father Hussein Mkana could be present at all times during the birth. “All of the staff put their hearts into it,” says Mkana.
The birth is also remembered by the experienced hospital staff. “As a Twin Clinic, we specialize in multiple births. Nevertheless, caring for triplets is always something special for us too,” says Dr. Hassan Issa, Chief Physician of the Clinic for Children and Adolescents. “And with this special date of birth, the three of them will be remembered even more.”
