The Italian public lives according to a single television event: the San Remo Festival. In 2023 we will have its 73rd edition, presented by Amadeus at the Ariston Theater. But there is another type of audience that awaits another type of event, one which for many represents an even more interesting competition, the real one: the FantaSanremo, invention of a group of friends from the Marche region. A sort of “musical fantasy football” that only arrives on the web in 2021 with a real one official site. Let’s see exactly what it is.
FantaSanremo: what is it and how does it work?
What is the FantaSanremo
A few weeks before the start of the Sanremo Festival – this year on Rai 1 from 7 to 11 February – the early stages of the FantaSanremo. But what exactly does it consist of? It is a game and it is all about creating a virtual team composed of 5 singers among those competing for each edition.
The goal, during the evenings of the singing competition, is to accumulate as many points as possible within the national or local league created specifically to challenge friends and acquaintances. In short, this curious game has very little to do with music, but it is now one of the main incentives to follow Sanremo. What’s the purpose? There isn’t one, other than pure fun. To the FantaSanremoindeed, you win absolutely nothing.
How to sign up and play
Once logged in to the official website of the FantaSanremo, it will be sufficient to sign up with your e-mail address, or through a Google account, and compose your own team. The game is totally free, or at least not in the truest sense of the word. In fact, the 5 members of your team can be “bought” with a virtual currency, the baudoin honour of Goofy Baudo, historic presenter of the Italian Music Festival. After registration, each player has available 100 baud to form your own team and choose a captain.
Bonuses and penalties
Now let’s get into the game. How to get the points? Whoever manages the site has the task of updating the score of each individual artist for each evening of the Sanremo Festival, and to do so they must be very careful during the live broadcast. In fact, to accumulate points, each of the big names must carry out actions – more or less voluntary – on the Ariston stage. Which ones are they? This is where the juiciest comes into play list of bonuses and penalties to earn or lose valuable points. In the case of the chosen captain, these double.
Malus
The list of malus it ranges from the simplest mistakes, such as getting the name of an artist or a song wrong, to the most absurd situations. Among the most characteristic:

Among the Premiums, the following go down in history:
- Bonuses Pandora: The artist receives a marriage proposal during the week of the Festivàl, valid only if the artist replies with a yes. If on stage doubles (+20)
- Bonuses Philadephia: Artist smeared on the ground, along or lying on the ground (+10)
