CEO Oliver Kahn has expressed disappointment about Bayern Munich’s next game not being won, but is looking forward to fighting. “Just one point again and the next setback for us! We can’t expect results and performances like these,” Kahn tweeted on Sunday after the 1-1 draw against TSG 1899 Hoffenheim in the Bundesliga. Immediately after the home game on Saturday, the 53-year-old left the Munich Arena without making a public statement.

“Nevertheless, we’re still top of the table and we’ll defend this place with all our might,” announced Kahn about the title fight with Borussia Dortmund. The lead over BVB, who lost a last-minute win in the 3-3 win in Stuttgart, is still two points six games before the end of the season.

Kahn initially focused on the Champions League game against Manchester City from the league duel. “But now we have to concentrate 100% on the game on Wednesday. We have to do everything we can to make the seemingly impossible possible,” said the CEO. Bayern have to catch up on a 3-0 loss from the first leg in their own stadium in order to reach the semi-finals after all. “But it takes total conviction and belief in it. Anything is possible with the support of the fans in the arena. I’ve experienced that often enough myself,” wrote the former goalkeeper. (dpa)
