He is one of the best-known employees at FC Bayern and is a familiar face for many fans: press spokesman Dieter Nickles. Since 2016 he has led the many press conferences and is responsible for the media representation of the club.
FC Bayern: spokesman disappeared from the scene
In the past few weeks, however, Nickles was suddenly missing, since March 17th he has not been on the podium. Without explanation, other important tasks took over from him, such as introducing Thomas Tuchel as the new head coach, which Stefan Mennerich took over. However, he is not the new spokesman, but as director for media and communication at FC Bayern, just Nickle’s superior.
Questions were also raised by the fact that Nickles has not been in front of the camera since the end of Julian Nagelsmann, like the “tz“reported. Now FC Bayern has clarified the mystery.
FC Bayern clears up mysteries about Nickles
The club wrote on Twitter under an announcement of the press conference before the game against Freiburg that Nickles was only ill. He had had a bicycle accident and was therefore not present. However, the people of Munich assured him that he would be back soon:
“Our press conferences will soon be held again with press spokesman Dieter Nickles, who is currently unable to attend after a bicycle accident. Get well soon, Dieter!”
In the comments, many fans wished the spokesman a speedy recovery, with some also addressing their concern that Nickles is no longer employed in Munich.
Fans still angry about the end of Nagelsmann
Dieter Nickles has been with FC Bayern Munich for seven years now. Since he disappeared at the same time as Nagelsmann and he was released from the club in a way that was heavily criticized, some fans were also worried about Nickles’ future. The fact that Thomas Tuchel is now in Nagelsmann’s place still causes many fans to rage.

However, thousands of fans describe them as incomprehensible and unjustified. Many supporters of the club also commented as unworthy that his end at FC Bayern was not discussed with Nagelsmann before the announcement and that he found out about it through the media during his skiing holiday.
