The shock after the embarrassing first round elimination of the German national team at the World Cup in Qatar was deep. Very few had expected that Germany would be eliminated so early. No wonder everyone involved was devastated – fans as well as coaches and players.
What many will remember well is the emotional interview with Bayern star Joshua Kimmich. He spoke directly after the group had been eliminated from the “worst day of his career”. He also openly revealed his negative thoughts and expressed fears for the future: “I’m afraid I’ll fall into a hole.”

The decision-makers at FC Bayern are said to have been very concerned about the statement made by their playing manager. They immediately sought a conversation with Kimmich. Now, six weeks after the painful defeat, Kimmich talks about the emotional interview – and how he actually felt.

It is now clear: the fears have apparently not come true, as “picture“reported. The midfield player explains:
“The statements immediately after the game were very emotional, because that really affects me. You can’t just tick that off. Nevertheless, the motivation to be back at the club is huge again. I didn’t fall into a hole.”
The Bayern professional is now focused again and full of energy. He will bring top performances again at FC Bayern and also in the national team.
Kimmich reveals: His family supported him
But how did the midfield ace manage to be in good spirits so quickly? Kimmich himself gives the answer. Accordingly, the optimistic mood is also due to his three children. “It’s difficult to fall into a hole with them, because you have other tasks,” he says.
It looked different in 2018. After Germany’s elimination from the World Cup in Russia, Kimmich, who was still childless at the time, found it much more difficult to digest what had happened. “I didn’t have such a distraction, I had a lot of time to think on vacation. You do that now, but not so much anymore because of the tasks at home.”

So his family supports his father. Bayern’s number 6 is now highly motivated again. He even has a resolution and wants to do even more than before, as he reveals: “The first half of the season was one of my most stable half-years. For the second half of the season I intend to improve even more in terms of scoring.”
When football clubs sign expensive players, they always take a risk. Because even if the footballer has achieved great things at other clubs, there is no guarantee that he will deliver like that again.
