Bundesliga
Three games, three draws: After the winter break, FC Bayern still haven’t managed to put in their usual performance on the pitch. After Bayern didn’t win for the third time, the pressure within the club is now increasing. Trainer Julian Nagelsmann has to explain himself in particular.
Lothar Matthäus sees FC Bayern in crisis
According to some critics, the fact that Bayern have not yet been able to win a game in the new half of the season is a disgrace. Club legend Lothar Matthäus described it in a similar way, according to which the Munich team had to get back on the road to success “very quickly”.

In addition, the club “have an obligation to reach the next round”, because otherwise it would also be “very critical for Nagelsmann”., emphasized Matthäus in the talk on “Sky90”. On Wednesday, Munich will meet Mainz 05 in the round of 16 of the DFB Cup. The record cup winners have not reached the final of the competition for two years, but failed in the second round each time.
Then he also spoke about the doubts about Nagelsmann from the first half of the season, which would now return because the “performance is no longer there”.

Comparison with criticism of Nagelsmann in the fall
That was not the case in autumn, however, bad luck and individual players depressed performance. Even then, Bayern had not won four games in a row. After the winter break, however, there is now a lack of a playing rhythm that “you can say is Bayern Munich-like”. According to Matthäus, the trainer is therefore responsible for making changes:
“Julian Nagelsmann is challenged to finally find a team that plays so naturally again, that plays fluently, that enjoys the game.”
Nevertheless, the former national player emphasized that he don’t think Nagelsmann’s position is in jeopardy – at least not yet. But the coach had to “deliver results with Bayern Munich” as soon as possible.
Nagelsmann disagrees with Oliver Kahn
Nagelsmann himself spoke of “not a good result run” after the game on Saturday evening. However, he did not agree with the criticism from CEO Oliver Kahn. Kahn had previously spoken angrily of “two teams”:
“Objectively it is noticeable that there are two teams. That was the team before the World Cup. And now it’s the team after the World Cup.”
Nagelsmann opposed this. He doesn’t see two different teams as they have brought the same elements from their successful days onto the pitch. Besides, be that Munich lawn “very soapy” in the game against SGE and therefore “not easy to record”. According to Nagelsmann, this also meant that the team could not perform as usual.
In the end there were many disappointed faces in the Ergo Arena in Gdańsk. At the Handball World Championship, the German team around coach Alfred Gislason had to admit defeat against France by 28:35.
