The scientific basis for integrating the Festa dos Tabuleiros into the national Intangible Cultural Heritage was delivered on July 31, 2019, invoking antiquity and the fact that this is “a unique festival in the country and in the world”, being “of the people, made by the people and for the people”, as highlighted, at the time, the mayor of Tomar, Anabela Freitas.
With pagan origin, symbolizing the harvest season, the Festa dos Trabuleiros acquired a religious character in the Middle Ages, with Queen Santa Isabel, being the trays of the Festa de Tomar unique in this form in the traditional festivities of the Holy Spirit that are held a little by All country.
Anabela Freitas then declared that entry into the national inventory of Intangible Cultural Heritage would initiate a new phase, that of preparing a candidacy for Intangible Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO (United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization , in the acronym in English).

The last party took place in 2019, so this year, from the 1st to the 10th of July, the Festa dos Tabuleiros returns to the streets of Tomar, following the decision taken by the people last year.
The announcement of the party will be made on Easter Sunday, April 9, with the first procession of the Crowns and Banners of Espírito Santo, followed by six more “Crown Outings” with different routes, to cover all the streets of the city.
On the 2nd of July there will be the Parade of the Boys, on the 5th the decorated streets will open, on the 7th the Mordomo Parade will take place, on the 8th the partial processions of the boards, the exhibition of boards in the Mata dos Sete Montes and the final of popular games, taking place on the 9th the Procession of Crowns and Banners of Espírito Santo and the Grande Cortejo dos Tabuleiros, with the festivities culminating on the 10th with the distribution of Pêza or Bodo.
