Juarez City.- Due to epilepsy, 49 people have lost their lives in Ciudad Juárez this 2022, the State Health Secretariat reported. Last year it registered 54 deaths, so although there is a slight decrease, he urged caution and not lower one’s guard.
This condition manifests itself as a central nervous system disorder in which brain activity is altered at times, leading to seizures and even loss of consciousness, violating those who experience it.
In the entity, the statistics from January to December reach up to 90 deceased for such a cause, according to information from Dynamic Cubes of the General Directorate of Health Information (DGIS). In 2021, the number reached 121, according to what was released by the agency, which pointed out that the multi-causal pathology can be controlled in up to seven out of 10 people who suffer from it.
He recalled the importance of seeking a timely medical review to rule out or confirm the aforementioned clinical condition and, if necessary, initiate treatment according to the specific conditions of each patient. He pointed out that, mainly, those who are most prone to epilepsy are minors and sixty-year-olds due to lack of oxygen; they are followed by young adults, mostly from trauma.
He also noted that people with seizures from epileptic seizures tend to have more physical problems such as fractures and bruises from blows, as well as higher rates of psychosocial disorders, including anxiety and depression, and are even at risk of a premature death, hence care is requested in order to have greater well-being through it.
