While 2023 can rhyme with good tech resolutions, this new year is surely the opportunity to take a step back from your use of social networks, or even to delete certain accounts. But the platforms make this manipulation often difficult to access.
Facebook is the strongest in this area, it takes 9 steps before you can delete your account. To permanently delete your Facebook account, click on your profile picture at the top right of Facebook. Select Settings and Privacythen click Settings. On the left of the screen, click Your Facebook information then on Deactivation and deletion. Choose Delete account and click on Proceed with account deletion. Click on Delete account, enter your password, then click To continue.
However, this manipulation is not activated immediately. You can always recover your account within 30 days by logging in again.
Facebook warns that once the account is deleted, you will not be able to reactivate your account, profile, photos, posts and videos. To have access to all your content, remember to download your facebook data before deleting the account.
On Twitter, two options are possible: deactivate or permanently delete your account. Deactivation lasts 30 days but the account is still accessible. However, if the user does not log in within these 30 days, the account will be deleted at the end of this period. Deactivating your Twitter account means that your username and public profile will no longer be visible on the social network.
To delete your account, click on the icon More on the left of the screen, then on Settings and support in the drop-down menu, then Settings and Privacy. From tab Your accountclick on DISACTIVATE your account. At the bottom of the screen click on Disable then enter your password to confirm.
The permanent deletion of the account takes place after 30 days. You can restore your Twitter account during this same period after deactivation. After 30 days, you will not be able to reactivate your old account and you will no longer have access to your old tweets.
Note that deleting your Twitter account will not remove your information from search engines. Before deleting the account you can also download your Twitter data.
There are also two possibilities: deactivate or delete your account. To delete your account on an Android device, you have to go not to the application but to Instagram’s help page and click on Delete your account. Once on the page, a drop-down menu offers you to choose between several reasons to explain your departure. All you have to do is click on To delete.
To delete your account on iPhone: press your profile picture at the bottom right to access your profile, then at the top right on the icon with the three lines to select Settings. Press on Accountthen Delete account Press on Proceed with account deletion. You must provide a reason why you want to leave Instagram. You will then have to enter your password and click one last time on Delete account.
To deactivate your account, you must redo the first three steps. On several occasions, it is proposed to deactivate your account instead of deleting it. It is possible to save and download all your databefore deleting your account.
TikTok
To delete his account on TikTok, you must access his profile at the bottom right of the screen in the application. Then press the 3 lines icon at the top right. To select Settings and Privacy then Account and finally Delete account. Fill out the deletion form offered by TikTok, then press To continue. Enter your password to validate the deletion. It is also possible to deactivate your account with the same manipulations at the start.
The user has a maximum of 30 days to reactivate his account. You can also download your data before deleting the account. To do this, in your profile, select the tab Privacyclick on Download your dataYou must choose a TXT or JSON format, and then validate by clicking on Request your data. You will find all your data in ZIP format.
Videos you have posted or recorded are not included in the download. To save them, go to your profile and save them manually one by one: click on the video you want to download, press the 3 dots icon and select Save video. The selected TikTok video will be directly in your phone gallery.
