Square Enix still has a few surprises up its sleeve. 2023 should be marked by a very big announcement from the publisher and we already know what Final Fantasy it could be.
Final Fantasy fans might not be at the end of their surprises. The year will be busy, with the arrival of FF16 in the summer, a giant compilation of the oldest episodes and news of FF7 Rebirth, even perhaps a release in winter 2023. Square Enix prepares a very big revelation for this year, and everything seems to point to the famous FF9 Remake from the Nvidia leak.
An announcement of Final Fantasy 9 Remake in 2023?
The stars continue to align for Final Fantasy 9 Remake. Since last year, rumors have suggested the return of Djidane, Garnet and Bibi in a new light. At their origin, the famous Nvidia leak of September 2021, which compiled a long list of games that had enough to put stars in their eyes. Its veracity was yet to be proven, the months that followed made it more than credible. It would seem, however, that the announcement of FF9 Remake is scheduled for this year.
In his New Year’s greeting message, Yoshinori Kitase, producer of the saga, teased “a very big announcement” that is not related to FF7 Remake 2 or Final Fantasy 7 as a whole, nor FF16 by elimination. It would then be a new title not yet announced which would have something to create the surprise. Final Fantasy 9 Remake seems the right thing to do.
There’s also another really big announcement that has nothing to do with Final Fantasy 7, but I can’t talk about it right now. Rest assured that we are working hard to make 2023 the most exciting year for fans yet.
After Kingdom Hearts 4 and the new Tomb Raider were confirmed on the Nvidia leak slate, it only seemed like a matter of time before FF9 Remake was officially unveiled. Some were hoping for an announcement during The Game Awards 2022, but so it could finally arrive in the next few months. Square Enix’s calendar is likely to be very busy again this year.
