COLORADO SPRINGS — One man was killed and three people were injured after a shooting at a Colorado shopping center on Christmas Eve, police said Sunday.
A fight broke out between two groups of people in the afternoon at the Citadel Mall in Colorado Springs and the police responded after receiving a report of shots fired, according to local police in several posts on the X social network.
An adult man died at the scene from a gunshot wound and two others, who had been shot at least once each, were taken to hospitals in serious condition, police said.
A woman was also taken to a hospital with what were described as minor injuries.
The police said they had detained “several people” and noted that they were working “to determine their involvement.”
The facility was vacated and closed, according to police, and there was no longer a known threat to the community.
Colorado Springs is about 71 miles (114 kilometers) south of Denver.
