St. Patrick's Cathedral offers Midnight Mass

On Christmas Eve this Sunday, thousands of New Yorkers were at St. Patrick’s Cathedral for the annual midnight mass.

This celebration is a Christmas tradition that dates back to 1879.

Cardinal Timothy Dolan was in charge of delivering the sermon, making it his fifteenth midnight mass as archbishop of New York.

Dolan prayed not only for attendees and supporters at home, but also for those who are currently suffering because of the war in the Middle East.

In this regard, the archbishop asked for blessings of peace for those “troubled places in the world where tension, violence and bloodshed still seem to have not heard the good news of Christmas.”

St. Patrick’s Cathedral will have Christmas services throughout the day until 5:30 p.m.
