During a major alarm exercise by the Potsdam fire brigade in Golm last Saturday, around 65 emergency services from the fire brigade and rescue service practiced the emergency. The volunteer fire brigades in Golm, Eiche and Grube were involved in the two-hour alarm exercise in the Marie-Curie-Ring area. The aim was to practice providing assistance in a complex traffic accident with several scenarios taking place at the same time, as announced by the town hall.

The starting point was a staged traffic accident with people trapped. Around 10 a.m., the volunteer fire brigade was alerted. The Golm volunteer fire brigade took over a car fire and at the same time rescued a person who was trapped in a deformed vehicle. The Eiche fire brigade had to free two people from another car using heavy technical equipment and coordinate with the rescue service.

A complication: A burning car had previously caused a wildfire that threatened an agricultural trailer filled with petrol. In order to present a realistic deployment scenario, all extras had been professionally made up in advance to authentically simulate injuries. All previously taught learning content was well applied in the exercise.
