In Hamburg, the fire brigade warns the population of toxic smoke after a major fire in the Rothenburgsort district. According to an official warning sent out today, residents in Rothenburgsort could be adversely affected “by smoke gases and chemical components in the air we breathe”.

The population is asked to close windows and doors immediately and switch off the ventilation and air conditioning systems. The cloud of smoke moves towards the city.

As the NDR reported, citing the fire brigade, the fire broke out at 4.30 a.m. at a truck stop. There is a “smoke mushroom” above the fire site, hydrogen sulfide is escaping. There are always detonations, firefighters can only enter the site with breathing masks.
