The order consists of four amphibious aircraft intended for firefighting.

Algeria: soon ready against forest fires

It is expected that Algeria will soon receive this order, which is part of an agreement signed between Algeria and Russia. These planes are then intended to strengthen the country’s capacity to fight against forest fires and should be delivered soon.

It should therefore be emphasized that Algeria should be in possession of two Beriev BE 200SE by summer 2023, and that two other aircraft are planned to reinforce its fleet soon. These seaplanes will be piloted by Algerian crews, while their maintenance will be taken care of by local engineers who participated in their construction in Russia.

As a reminder, Algeria has been confronted with several forest fires in recent years, which have caused considerable damage. One of the first fires occurred on Tuesday April 12 in Baata, a small mountainous town located 57 km northeast of Médéa. This high intensity fire spread rapidly.

The Civil Protection then mobilized all its units in El Omaria, Ouzera, Benchicao and Berrouaghia, using significant human and material resources, with the support of regional forest conservation.
