Will she make it to the ceremony?[/caption]

1. Fiz disappears

Weatherfield mechanic Tyrone Dobbs (played by Alan Halsall) plans a surprise Christmas wedding after asking Fiz Stape (Jennie McAlpine).

But his plan fails this week.

It all starts when the Underworld employee grows increasingly frustrated when she opens a Christmas present to find a box of chocolates and a key ring.

Disappointed, she begins to believe that the spark between her and Tyrone is fading… unaware that she is about to experience one of the most magical days of her life.

Tyrone shares a secret smile with the girls, Hope and Ruby.

Later, the three descend the stairs in their wedding attire, intending to surprise Fiz.

But when they come downstairs, they only find a note on the table – Fiz has gone to buy a turkey.

Tyrone panics as he watches his plan slowly unfold and calls Fiz’s phone.

Unfortunately, he discovers that she left him at home.

Gemma Winter and Chesney Brown try to help her by ordering her to go to the hotel while Bernie Winter and Dev Alahan wait for Fiz, to no avail.

Heartbroken, Tyrone tells the guests that it looks like the wedding is off and everyone is heading to Rovers to, at the very least, feast on the buffet.

Meanwhile, Fiz’s car breaks down on a country road and she realizes she has no phone to reach anyone.

She sets off on foot in search of a phone booth, hoping to let Tyrone know where she is.

Instead, she finds a passing walker named Chris to whom she explains her predicament – will he help her?

Stephen’s lies are exposed[/caption]

2. Stephen is stuck

Elsewhere in the cobblestones, Stephen Reid (Todd Boyce) continues to plot in hopes of getting the money he needs.

This leads him to take advantage of Elaine Metcalfe (Paula Wilcox) – but his son Tim (Joe Duttine) sees through the failing businessman.

Unfortunately for Stephen, some members of his own family also slowly understand.

Ahead, the Weatherfield taxi driver senses his mother’s feelings for Stephen are far from reciprocated and calls No. 8 with the gift she gave him.

David Platt (Jack P. Shepherd) immediately assumes it’s for him and is disappointed to find a flask.

When he shows it to his mother Gail (Helen Worth), he marks it as a very miserly gift from someone supposedly so rich.

Gail begins to put two and two together when she sees Elaine buying a bottle of whiskey for the hip flash and expresses her suspicions to Nick Tilsley (Ben Price).

Elaine later hands Stephen the whiskey and Gail reveals that she spoke to his estranged wife Gabrielle (Helene Maksoud) – he has some serious explaining to do.

Is this time out for Stephen?

3. A resident fights for his life

But Stephen will find it very difficult to cover his tracks as a resident is about to discover the truth behind the death of Leo Thompkins.

Ahead, Jenny Connor (portrayed by Sally Ann Matthews) reveals that Teddy Thompkins (Grant Burgin) called from Canada with shocking revelations.

Stephen masks his inner turmoil, knowing full well that it’s only a matter of time before he’s exposed.

In the following scenes, Jenny announces that Teddy will drop by to discuss what he’s discovered about Leo – and Stephen grows increasingly concerned.

Things go from bad to worse when Adam Barlow (Sam Robertson) explains that he has been contacted by Six Fellas.

However, Stephen might be surprised as he also learns that the delivery company is ready to settle after his accident.

Whether his luck turns out remains to be seen, but one thing is certain: Teddy could cause serious problems for Stephen.

Enough for the failing businessman to kill him?

Teddy heads for the Rovers, in bad shape, and Stephen catches up with him.

He then announces that Leo never made it to Canada and his lyrics were all from Weatherfield.

But as he crosses the street, ready to tell everything to Jenny, Teddy is run over by a van.

Nick watches the accident in horror as Teddy lies unconscious in the road.

Are Stephen’s problems solved?

Will Teddy recover?

4. Todd makes a mistake

Weatherfield stalwart Sean Tully (Antony Cotton) is the victim of a massive betrayal.

The Underworld Machinist explored his romantic potential with newcomer Laurence and, despite some mishaps, the pair seem to be getting along just fine.

This week, Laurence even offers Sean to go on a trip.

However, Todd Grimshaw (Gareth Pierce) soon sees him surreptitiously texting and his suspicions grow.

In later scenes, Sean announces that he and his son Dylan will be leaving for the Peaks with Laurence – leaving a jealous Todd with his mother Eileen and partner George Shuttleworth.

Sean, Dylan and Laurence soon return home from their night in the Peaks with stars in their eyes.

But while alone, Laurence tells Todd he can sense he is unloved and assures that he would be happy to change his mind.

Todd unfreezes a bottle of wine and, when Laurence goes to leave him, he leans in for a kiss.

Naturally, this raises tensions, prompting Todd to apologize to Sean for coming to see Laurence.

Yet, according to him, he wasn’t the only culprit as Todd insists the flirtation was mutual.

Sean loses his temper, no doubt disappointed that his relationship is taking a turn, like many others before.

In later scenes, Laurence confides that it’s the anniversary of Lindsey’s death and that he still feels guilty for marrying her.

Laurence decides to buy her parents flowers as a sign of kindness, but Todd is soon distracted by gossip when he overhears Mary Taylor and Rita Tanner discuss Lyndsey’s death.

According to them, it was even big news at the time – what will Todd learn?

Although this is yet to be proven, Todd is intrigued and later researches the death of Laurence’s wife.

This pushes him to come to his own conclusion.

Is Laurence hiding something from Sean?

Griff’s hold on Max gets worse.[/caption]

5. Max moves in with Griff

Meanwhile, Griff Reynolds (Michael Condron) has managed to strike fear in Weatherfield, especially after his gang brutally attacks a young Daryan.

But in doing so, he also got troubled teenager Max Turner (Paddy Bever) to join him and his far-right group.

As the boy’s grooming story continues this week, Griff’s hold on him only gets worse.

Ahead, Audrey Roberts sits down with her family for Christmas lunch at the bistro.

The gathering includes Max, Gail, David and Shona Platt, Nick Tilsley and Leanne Battersby.

Max opens his gift and is thrilled to find a state-of-the-art editing package.

However, the meal turns sour when David makes a joke about Griff.

Max immediately leaps to Griff’s defense before storming off, leaving David to regret his remarks.

David did not support Max’s connection to Griff, believing that the latter serves no purpose.

When he sees him playing with Griff at the Christmas market, David loses his temper and tries to coach Max.

Unfortunately, this hits a nerve and the father-son relationship crumbles as Max tells David not only that he hates him, but that he will also move in with Griff.

Later, David receives a stern warning from Toyah Battersby (Georgia Taylor) – according to her, Griff is a dangerous man and he must get Max out of his grip.

But what can David do?

Coronation Street airs on ITV.
