Flood warning for the metropolitan area

The National Meteorological Service (SNM) in San Juan issued a flood warning for Bayamón, Carolina, Cataño, Guaynabo, San Juan and Trujillo Alto on Wednesday, valid until 7:30 p.m.

According to the SNM, urban flooding and small stream flooding caused by heavy rains is expected in the aforementioned areas. Specifically, low altitude areas with drainage problems will be the most affected.

At 4:27 p.m., Doppler radar indicated heavy rain from thunderstorms. These precipitations will generate urban flooding and small streams. So far, 1 inch of rain has been recorded.

As reported, heavy downpours and thunderstorms are expected.

For tomorrow, Thursday, a tropical wave is expected.

The SNM anticipates an additional amount of rain of up to 1 inch in the area. This additional precipitation could cause minor flooding. “Turn around, don’t drown when running into flooded roads. Most of the deaths due to flooding happen in vehicles”, warned the SNM.
