Florida has the largest increase in job resignations in the US

MIAMI.- Florida became the first state with the largest increase in job resignation rates, according to a recent study by ResumeBlazea company specialized in the analysis of labor market trends.

Researchers evaluated data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) to compare attrition rates from September 2022 and September 2023 and determine which states had increased and which had decreased.

Increase in Florida

According to the analysis, the rate of job resignations in the state of the sun increased from 2.7 to 2.9 between September 2022 and the same month of 2023. Which represents the most significant increase in the entire country, reaching 7.41%.

The report revealed that about 281,000 workers in Florida left their jobs in September 2023, compared to 261,000 in the same month in 2022.

Despite being a state that has a dynamic labor market and a diverse economy, which includes sectors such as tourism, agriculture and technology, Florida went from position 3 to 1 on the list of the three states with job abandonment rates in increase.

A survey done by the company Pew Research Center found that the most common causes were a lack of flexibility, low wages and limited opportunities.

Currently, Florida workers earn a total of 12 dollars per state hour, after the wage increase measure that was in 11 dollars The time.

Which means that if this new figure is multiplied by 8 hours a day, an employee in Florida earns a salary of $2,880 a month.

The three states with the highest increase

The second state with the highest percentage of people who quit their jobs is Louisianawith a dropout rate that went from 3.1% to 3.3%, a figure that reflects an increase of 6.45%.

Almost 66,000 workers resigned in the Creole state in September 2023, a figure that grew compared to 60,000 workers in 2022.

While Texas In third place are 369,000 workers who left their jobs this year.

The Lone Star State saw its resignation rate rise from 2.7% to 2.8%, reflecting an increase of 3.70%.

Decrease throughout the country

On the other hand, the study showed that states across the country showed considerable declines in job resignations from September 2022 to September 2023.

Across the United States, dropout rates fell 11.54% between September 2022 and September 2023, from 2.6 to 2.3.

This indicates that approximately one in 43 employed people quit their job during September 2023. Only three states experienced increasing resignation rates year over year, and 48 states had a lower resignation rate than the same time last year, highlights the company’s statement.

ResumeBlaze founder Darren Shafae mentioned that “it is encouraging to see an overall decline in attrition rates nationally with only three states experiencing the highest attrition rates this year.”

He said this is because as Americans increasingly adapt to new careers and employers offer flexibility with remote work options, job attrition rates are returning to pre-pandemic levels as the labor market continues to cool across the country.
