The socialist president of the Occitanie region is in favor of a union, but of the “left which acts, not the one which is agitated”.
Yes for the “union”, “with” La France insoumise, but “not behind”. Carole Delga confided in the perspectives of the left in an interview with AFP. Fierce opponent of the New Popular Ecological and Social Union (Nupes) in its infancy – she had supported candidates against this alliance during the legislative elections – the socialist president of the Occitanie region has watered down her wine.
“Wokism or BBQ Considerations”
She now pleads for a “union”, including with the rebellious. But “the left behind LFI, I don’t think that’s the future,” adds Carole Delga. For her, it is a question of gathering on “a social project which meets the needs, without getting lost in considerations of wokism or barbecue” – a reference to the ecologist deputy Sandrine Rousseau.
Carole Delga assures that she was “not for Nupes in May because the leader was Jean-Luc Mélenchon”.
“I have always believed in the union of the left, but this left which acts, not the one which is agitated”, tackles the elected official. Among the rebellious, she prefers François Ruffin with whom she “shares a lot of analyzes”.
“How we are useful”

In this internal election, Carole Delga says she is “closer to the proposals of Nicolas Mayer-Rossignol”, mayor of Rouen. The city councilor advocates a third way between Olivier Faure and Hélène Geoffroy.
The current First Secretary of the Socialist Party and the mayor of Vaulx-en-Velin – who had already clashed in 2018 – stand out in particular on the Nupes. One being for and the other against. Carole Delga wants this congress to be “refounding to say who we are, we socialists, and how we are useful.”
