Ford confirmed that the new generation of Ford Ranger will arrive in Brazil in the second half, more precisely in August. Manufactured at the Pacheco plant, in Argentina, the pickup, which is already one of the most complete and technological on the market, must now also stand out for its engine — in addition to its design.

O Canaltech had very brief contacts with the new Ford Ranger 2024: one at the Argentine factory and another in Tatuí (SP), during the test event of the F-150, its bigger sister. And the impressions, at least looking at the pickup, are that we are looking at what may be the most beautiful Ranger of all time.

This happens because the visual alignment that Ford adopted for its medium pickup managed to blend well elements seen in the F-150 itself and in the Ford Maverick. The look of the new generation is already known from markets where this model has already arrived. So, more than just being beautiful, Ranger has her own personality, but without straying too far from her sisters.

The units shown in both Pacheco and Tatuí reveal that it is slightly larger and taller than the current generation, in addition to having a more muscular and prominent front end. The Limited variant, which should be the top of the range, despite using chrome, does not exaggerate, even to safely distance itself from its bigger sister, the F-150.

The optical set is entirely in LED and there is an abundance of sensors and radars, which indicates the high level of equipment aimed at driving. This Ranger, according to Ford, will be the most technological ever and also with the most automated production, as we saw in Pacheco.

We can expect everything that is already present in the current Ranger but with superior calibrations, such as blind spot sensors, forward collision alert with emergency braking and the adaptive autopilot. Items such as a lane keeping system and even more advanced semi-autonomous driving features should appear.

V6 engine to face the VW Amarok

The big news of the new generation of the Ford Ranger should really be the version equipped with a 3.0 Turbodiesel V6 engine that, abroad, delivers a good 247 hp and 61.2 kgfm of torque. For comparison, the Ranger Limited 2023 has a 3.2 turbodiesel engine with 200hp and 47.9 kgf/m.

With the V6 engine, at least in terms of performance, the new Ranger must duel with the already old VW Amarok, which boasts its 3.0 V6 turbodiesel with 258hp (272hp in overboost mode) and 59.1 kgf/m. This fight promises.

In the entry and intermediate versions, the Ranger 2024 can be equipped with new 2.0 turbodiesel engines with 167 hp and 41.2 kgf/m and 204 hp and 51 kgf/m, respectively.

New Ford Ranger: When will it arrive in Brazil?

With production scheduled to start in June, in Argentina, the new Ford Ranger should start being sold in Brazil in the second half, more precisely in August.
