MIAMI.- The Bolivian justice system charged the former queen of beauty Alondra Mercado, known for holding the titles of Miss Bolivia World 2020 and Miss Charm Bolivia in 2023, for alleged trafficking of armas. The 22-year-old girl is in the Trinidad women’s prison, in Beni, Bolivia.
Gerardo Balderas, prosecutor of the Department of Beni, reported that the investigation continues until the authorities have new details about the case. Likewise, he explained that Mercado’s boyfriend is also wanted for the same crime as the model, but is a fugitive from justice.
Local media reported that on November 24, the Special Force to Fight Drug Trafficking (FELCN) raided the couple’s residence, but both managed to escape. In the operation, a total of 100 war munitions were seized.
“The boyfriend (of the former beauty queen) is investigated for trafficking in controlled substances and is a fugitive. Like his sister, she would be the one who bought the real estate,” Balderas reported.
The former miss was also charged with possession of weapons and carrying them, for which reason she must remain in preventive detention for at least 30 days.
The authorities noted that there was a high risk of escape, as well as an obstacle to the investigation.

Alondra could also be charged with drug trafficking; However, the Public Ministry and the FELCN explained that they must wait for the results of the microaspiration test to come out on one of the cars that was found on the property and that corresponds to the young woman.
“We have information and according to the videos of a cell phone that has been kidnapped from the arrested person, there are videos that the former beauty queen and the accused of drug trafficking at clandestine parties with these weapons (those found in the raid), added Gerardo Balderas.
Until now, the hypothesis established is that Mercado would be involved in a criminal drug trafficking organization, which is led by her partner.
The prosecutor also stated that they are already working with Interpol to request the red notice against the man, since it is suspected that he has a criminal record in other countries.
