The person involved was identified as Evelyn Fernández, a retired Miami-Dade police lieutenant with a prior arrest history in 2016 for burglary of an unoccupied structure and criminal mischief. Charges against Fernández are being evaluated, but it is expected that he will face charges of attempted murder due to the shots fired, Cordero Stutz explained. The victim is a retired officer from another police department.
