Former police officer known as “El Kid” is sentenced to 8 years in prison

Former police officer, William Cintrón-Rivera, known as “El Kid/Kid”, was sentenced to eight years in prison on Monday for stealing 54 weapons and thousands of bullets from the Police Headquarters in Guayama on July 17, 2019. .

“Cintrón-Rivera was sentenced for his direct involvement in the robbery and also for tampering with witnesses related to the case,” US Attorney W. Stephen Muldrow announced in written statements.

According to court documents, Cintrón-Rivera, being an officer at the time, took the weapons from the PRPB headquarters in Guayama. Additionally, he is charged with possession of six of the stolen weapons and thousands of bullets.

Investigations revealed attempts by Cintrón-Rivera to intimidate two individuals into providing false information about the robbery, including their whereabouts on the night of the crime. He also tried to persuade a woman to lie about various topics, including her relationship with her and the communications between the two of them.

Christopher Robinson, ATF Special Agent in Charge, and W. Stephen Muldrow, United States Attorney for the District of Puerto Rico, made the announcement.

The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, along with the PRPB, are investigating the case. Assistant United States Attorney Luis Valentin was in charge of the prosecution.
