Four people were seriously injured after a spectacular accident that occurred in the town of Río Seco, in the Guamá municipality, Santiago de Cuba.

The Internet user who reported the accident in the Accidentes Buses & Camiones Facebook group shared several photos showing the unfortunate state in which the damaged pisicorre was left.

According to the images, it appears that the vehicle left a secondary road for unknown reasons, and hit a mango tree. The car was half overturned.

Although the user who reported the accident said that there were three injured and that one was in poor condition, in the comments to the publication a doctor from the area -identified as Elizabeth Laurencio Canto- reported that Four serious patients were received at the hospital, two of them with danger to life and two other serious ones without danger to life.

Unfortunately, the reports of accidents do not let up on Cuban highways and in recent days several of those reported have happened precisely in Santiago de Cuba.

On Tuesday of last week, a fatal traffic accident that occurred on Trocha street, in the main municipality of the province, left at least one deceased. In that case, two motorcycles and a truck were apparently involved in the accident.

A day later, on Wednesday, a driver survived another spectacular accident that also occurred in the city of Santiago de Cuba, when the truck he was driving left the highway in the area of ​​the El Caney bridge and fell into a kind of ravine. In that case the driver explained that he reacted in time and managed to jump from the vehicle before it fell down the ravine, something that many commentators described as a true miracle.

Saturday, a trailer lost control and caught fire after leaving the airport-highway road in Santiago de Cuba. Two people were injured in that accident, one of them the driver, who had to be removed from the vehicle.

At the national level, the figures for road accidents continue to be dramatic in Cuba. Between January and May 2023, 3,620 traffic accidents occurred on the island, which killed 290 people and injured 2,807, according to official figures.

People between the ages of 21 and 35 represented 22% of those affected in the accidents, while the ages of the majority of the fatalities ranged between 46 and 55 years.

In Cuba, six out of ten accidents leave victims, mainly due to vehicle collisions. In the case of pedestrian collisions, for every five collisions, one person dies. The time with the highest incidence of accidents is between 3 and 6 in the afternoon, and 70% of road incidents occur in urban areas.
