While Darmanin’s new law, which wants a chosen immigration, has just been presented to the Council of Ministers, an Algerian family has just undergone the measure most feared by foreigners in an irregular situation in France, expulsion.
This is what emerges from a press release, published on February 1 by the Landes Education Without Borders Network (RESF 40). Indeed, according to the latter, this Algerian family was deported not to Algeria, but to Madrid in Spain.

According to the RESF 40, this family, including four children attending Mont-de-Marsan school, were awakened and arrested at their accommodation at 6:00 a.m. An expulsion described by the RESF of Landes as “unworthy and shocking”. In particular for the four children educated in the nursery school of the center, the primary school of the Arènes and the Jean-Rostand college.
In addition, the Education Network without Borders of Landes informs that this expulsion took place towards Madrid. And this, in accordance with the Dublin regulations, where the family had expressed their request for asylum. The RESF denounces “institutional violence”, which represents a first in the Landes.
To conclude its press release, the RESF 40 invites the citizens of this region to renew their ambitions of humanity vis-à-vis the migrant community. And no longer accept such a situation.
A demonstration to demand the regularization of foreign families
In another file, in Toulouse, the RESF 31 organizes solidarity cafes in front of the schools of foreign families threatened with expulsion. A mobilization is scheduled for February 15, writes Franceinfo. RESEF, in collaboration with the Human Rights League, are stepping up their efforts to prevent the expulsion of six families.
The latter come from Albania, Georgia, Turkey, but also from Algeria. According to the RESF, these families have spent about ten years on French territory, and can benefit from regularization linked to the employment of the parents, who often work in sectors under pressure.
