Chafik Gasmi describes himself as a citizen of the world. Child of a Kabyle family, he learned the Koran before the Arabic language and French before joining the school of the White Fathers. Leaving Algeria, at the age of 15, Shafik realized his childhood dream, to become an architect, but not least.

Barely graduated from his school of architecture in Paris, Chafik Gasmi launched his first line of interior furniture in 1990, and succeeded in winning his first distinction, two years later, in particular the Grand Prix de la critique at the Salon du Meubles in Paris. .

Later, he redesigned the entire outdoor furniture catalog for Moulin-Galland and produced his other success, the “Square” garden chair, which earned him the “Golden number” prize. For the benefit of Hugues Chevalier, he produced his bestseller, the “Ying” leather armchair, which was subsequently chosen by the Hôtel de Matignon.

In 2004, he won the talent prize for the success of the “French from far away”. And in 2008, the Museum of Modern Arts in Algiers devotes a retrospective to him. Chafik’s achievements are not limited to this point. In 2022, this Algerian, in the company of his team, won the prize for the best bottle of feminine perfume. With such a worldwide reputation, Chafik Gasmi is known to be the Algerian designer of French luxury.
