Vpanic after a religious ceremony in Pas-de-Calais in France: around fifty people, victims of carbon monoxide poisoning, were taken care of on Saturday evening by firefighters after a mass in Tincques, about twenty kilometers from Arras, report several media.

The first warning signs had appeared during this ceremony, which was attended by nearly 200 people, indicates The voice of the North.

Several children and teenagers who had participated in the choir near the altar were dizzy, specifies the regional daily. Once the mass was over, around fifty worshipers wanted to continue their evening in the nearby village hall. “People then triggered their symptoms with a lag”, explains the mayor of the city, Jacques Thellier, to the newspaper. Some suffered from headaches, others from dizziness and vomiting. The community hall has thus been transformed into a field hospital.

Forty firefighters were mobilized. Several people were placed on oxygen. Others, whose symptoms turned out to be more violent, were taken directly to the hospital. We are talking about at least 7 people.

According to the first elements of the investigation, faulty heating in the church would explain these multiple poisonings.
