Original message from September 7, 2023: Thursday is free day – at least at the Epic Games Store. You can now pick up the tactical role-playing game Spelldrifter for free for a week. We’ll tell you here what you can expect from the fantasy title.

Genre: Tactical role-playing game Release: February 15, 2022 | Development studio: Free range games

With Spelldrifter you can expect a role-playing game that mixes two genres in the fights: Round tactics like Fire Emblem, but also a Deck Builder like Hearthstone and Co.

The hero of the story is the experienced warrior Korghan Twice-Born, who after numerous battles arrives in the magical city of Starfall – but it is certainly not a vacation spot at the moment, there is chaos and violence here.

You will meet other characters who want to join you and support you in the fight. Each character has their own hand full of cards that reflect your actions. So you have to think carefully about which attacks you use and when – you may not be able to repeat them so quickly. Thanks to the round-robin tactics, you have more than enough time to ponder.

On Steam There are just 11 reviews, and on average 72 percent of them are positive.

If Spelldrifter sounds familiar to you: Originally it was under the name labyrinth a Kickstarter campaign, which was then re-released under a new name in 2022. And the studio Free Range Games currently has an exciting project they are working on: The Lord of the Rings: Return to Moria.

If you’re looking for more games for the coming weekend, then the Payday 3 open beta would be an option.

Will you take a closer look at Spelldrifter or will the mix of deck builder and turn-based tactics à la Fire Emblem leave you cold? What game would you like to try but never spend any money? And what has been the best free game you’ve picked up from the Epic Games Store so far? Feel free to write it to us in the comments!
