From court: what Donald Trump is facing after accusations of interfering with the elections

Former President Donald Trump must appear in federal court in Washington DC on Thursday afternoon for the reading of charges against him.

All the surroundings of the court, the White House and other important buildings of the federal capital were armored for security in case of events out of control or attacks.

Trump will have to arrive in Washington DC from his golf site in New Jersey, but will enter the building through a tunnel for security reasons. His fingerprints will be taken digitally and he will not be registered with a photo or signature, since he is a known person.

The former president’s defense proposed that the trial be transferred to West Virginia, citing that it is “a case that violates freedom of expression and is a political act.” So far it is unknown where the official hearing will be held.

These are the charges he faces:

  • Conspiracy to defraud the United States
  • Conspiracy to obstruct an official process
  • Obstructing and attempting to interfere with official process
  • Conspiracy against the right to vote

The witnesses in the case will be former Trump allies, such as former Vice President Mike Pence and now a Republican presidential contender.

A lawyer explains why former President Donald Trump can continue to participate in the re-election race as the allegations against him unfold. Valeria Aponte Feliciano moderates the interview.
