Fruits and vegetables remain the basis of a so-called healthy diet and constitute one of the essential elements of the Algerian consumer. Seasonal fruits and vegetables are supposed to be accessible to ordinary citizens, but some still find it difficult to obtain them because of the prices, which are sometimes out of reach.

As a result, the authorities are working to regulate the market and make these foodstuffs more accessible.
The Algerian Organization for Consumer Protection and Guidance and its environment APOCE frequently communicates current market prices, in order to establish a certain transparency between traders and the end consumer thanks to more or less homogeneous pricing. It does this through press releases but also through the official social networks it has.

It is therefore in this context that a publication was published on the organization’s Facebook page this Thursday, December 22, 2022, displaying the prices of the various fruits and vegetables in Algeria, precisely in Azazga.

APOCE: What are the prices of fruit on the market?

The organization therefore reveals the price of some citrus fruits, which are in high demand in winter because of the vitamin C they contain. The orange for example is sold at 180DA/kilo and the clementine at 280DA/Kilo. Regarding the banana, it is displayed at the price of 500 DA/kilo, while the reason is sold at 280 DA/Kilo.

For dates, a product highly appreciated by Algerians and regardless of the season, prices differ according to the location of the trade but also the variety of dates. Prices can range from 300 to 700 dinars per kilogram.

APOCE: What prices for vegetables?

With winter and the cold, keeping warm also involves eating. This is why Algerians favor hot dishes like soup, or hearty and vitamin-packed dishes, all vegetable-based, which makes them products in high demand.
