Samsung has just extended its self-repair program to new devices. It is now possible to obtain spare parts for the Galaxy S22, S22+ and S22 Ultra but also for the Galaxy Book. A privilege which remains however reserved for American users.

In partnership with iFixit, Samsung has confirmed the extension of its self-repair program to five new Galaxy devices. It will now be possible to obtain spare parts for the Galaxy Book Pro 15″ and Galaxy Book Pro 360 15″, a first for Galaxy computers. New kits are also available for Galaxy S22, S22+ and S22 Ultra smartphones released last year.

On the telephony side, the repair kits include a new screen, a midframe and a battery for $160 (S22), $183 (S22+) or $233 (S22 Ultra). Charging ports and rear glass can be purchased for $60, regardless of model and color. On the computer side, users will be able to recover seven components (front and rear chassis, screen, battery, touchpad, power button with fingerprint reader, rubber foot).

Samsung Galaxy: new repair kits offered

Until then, the self-repair program was confined exclusively to the Galaxy S20 and S21 series and the Galaxy Tab S7+. Its extension is good news for hacker users who do not need a technician to restore their device. They simply order the kit and then follow iFixit’s video tutorial to install the new components properly.

Looking around the official iFixit website, we found that the kits were still restricted to US customers, with no shipping elsewhere. Of course, this owes nothing to chance. In the United States, the manufacturer must comply with several laws ensuring consumers a right to repair. While Apple has launched its Self Repair program in France, we hope that Samsung will follow suit soon by also offering spare parts in our region.
