Samsung Galaxy S23 wireless charging is not as fast as Galaxy S22. With the same wireless charger, the Galaxy S23 Ultra takes 40 minutes longer to charge compared to its predecessor.
The Galaxy S23 released earlier this year brought several improvements and novelties over the previous generation such as the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chip. However, Samsung has also backtracked on certain aspects, including wireless charging of the smartphone. In effect, Galaxy S23 wireless charging is limited to 10W while it is at 15W on the Galaxy S22.
Therefore, wireless charging is slower on the Galaxy S23 than on the Galaxy S22. Our colleagues from PhoneArena have confirmed this by testing Galaxy S23 charging speed compared to other smartphones on the market.
Galaxy S23 Ultra goes from 0 to 100% in 2h 37 with wireless charging
The three models of Samsung’s latest flagship, namely the Galaxy S23, the Galaxy S23+ that we recently tested and the Galaxy S23 Ultra, are therefore slower than the three models of the Galaxy S22. The results of the tests conducted by PhoneArena have clearly shown this. For example, the Galaxy S23 Ultra takes 2 hours and 37 minutes to go from 0 to 100% in wireless charging. That’s almost 40 minutes longer than the Galaxy S22 Ultra which takes 1 hour and 58 minutes.
The Galaxy S23 Ultra is the slowest when it comes to wireless charging, but the other models don’t fare much better. The Galaxy S23+ takes 1 hour and 48 minutes against 1 hour and 33 minutes for the Galaxy S22+. As for the Galaxy S23, it goes from 0 to 100% in 1 h 40 while the Galaxy S22 takes 1 h 24.
With these results, we can conclude that Samsung has deliberately restricted the wireless charging of its latest flagship. For the South Korean giant which is going to release the Galaxy S23 FE later this year with an Exynos chip, it’s probably a way improve the battery life of the Galaxy S23. Either way, the best way to quickly charge your Galaxy S23 is wired charging.
