Google Messages is getting a new update that brings a feature that allows you to speed up the sending of images via RCS. The improvement meets the request of many users who live in regions where the 4G connection leaves something to be desired.

According to 9to5Google, the improvement can already be found in the settings tab, and choosing the “Send photos faster” feature should cause the messenger to compress the material.

The description of the functionality itself makes it clear that the resolution of the photo is reduced so that the sending can be done more quickly.

See below that the feature already appears for some users:

For now, it is still unclear what is the maximum size supported by the compression feature. Even so, there are operators in the United States that limit the sending of images via RCS to something up to 100 MB.

That is, in these cases the operators themselves try to reduce the size of the photos so that they can be shared via Google Messages. That’s because the app uses the 4G network to allow you to send files and other attachments.

Finally, it should be noted that this new feature is being released slowly and gradually through the server. Thus, it may take a little longer for it to be available on your smartphone.

Even so, this type of novelty tends to “shake up” the US market more, since Brazilians prefer WhatsApp.
