Samsung is expected to update its line of folding cell phones soon, with the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Galaxy Z Flip 5 models. Both appeared in recent certifications from the Chinese regulatory body 3C, with battery charging details.

According to the listing, the two smartphones will support 25 W wired recharges – therefore, the same power as the current Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Galaxy Z Flip 4.

The certification also serves to reaffirm the model numbers of each cell phone: the Galaxy Z Flip 5 carries the code SM-F9460, while the Z Fold 5 is identified by the sequence SM-F7310.

Galaxy Z Flip 5 should have wider external screen

Previous rumors have already shown that the Galaxy Z Flip 5 should arrive with structural news, especially with regard to the external screen. The panel can gain larger dimensions, with 3.4 inches.

Inside, the device should arrive with a 6.7-inch display. A new hinge mechanism should make the device have a more discreet crease, among other construction improvements.

Its performance set should be led by a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 for Galaxy processor, as was the case with the Galaxy S23 line. In addition, the model can be sold with up to 512 GB of storage by UFS 4.0.

The Z Flip 5 camera set should bring a 12 MP duo, possibly with new sensors. Its operating system will be Android 13, with Samsung’s typical One UI interface.

Galaxy Z Fold 5 may bring 7.6-inch panel

The Galaxy Z Fold 5, in turn, should have a 6.2-inch external screen, with AMOLED technology and support for a refresh rate of 120 Hz.

The internal section would bring a 7.6-inch AMOLED display, with 2K resolution and the same frequency of 120 Hz. Construction improvements should also be noticed, with a new teardrop structure for the display.

The performance set should show some similarities with the Z Flip, such as the presence of Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 for Galaxy. However, in this case the internal space can reach 1 TB, with up to 12 GB of RAM.

The set of cameras on the device can maintain a 108 MP main sensor, combined with 12 MP and 10 MP components for ultrawide and 3x optical zoom telephoto, respectively. The front of the external screen must be 10 MP, while the internal camera hidden under the folding screen can be 4 MP.

An official date for the launch of Samsung’s new devices has not yet been released, but it is possible that they will arrive earlier than the traditional one, advancing the launch scheduled for mid-August by a few weeks.
